Ionising Radiation- HRB and 1GS

Local Rules concerning the safe use of open radioactive material in 1GS and HRB.

Only authorised staff may work unsupervised with ionising radiation.  And to work with ionising radiation in either 1GS or HRB you must: 

  • Receive local instruction from the Radiation Protection Supervisor (RPS): Rory Mitchell  (HRB) or Lorna Turnbull  (1GS). 

  • Complete University of Edinburgh online radiation protection course. For competency and course information visit the University Radiation website.

  • Complete, sign and gain authorisation by the Accredited Radiation Protection Adviser for the University (URPA) Mark Green.
