The Centre is an excellent location for PhD research training, hosting a diversity of laboratories using leading edge technologies in physiology, molecular and cellular biology, developmental biology, live imaging, and bioinformatics. There are many opportunities for PhD study within our Centre.Details of specific projects will be advertised when they become available. We would like to highlight PhD Programmes funded by Wellcome in which the supervisor involves many of our Centre members.Highlighted Wellcome PhD programmes:Translational Neuroscience: Lifecourse influences on human brain health ProgrammeOther Wellcome-funded PhD Programmes at University of EdinburghSIDB PhD Programmes:SIDB PhD studentships are 3.5-year full-time fully funded studentships, covering a generous stipend and fees for both home and international students. The SIDB research centre at the UoE provides a stipend above the standard UKRI rate, with the current stipend being £25,000 per annum in 2024/25. Our projects span basic and translational brain sciences with a specific focus on the biological mechanisms underlying autism. These studentships represent an exceptional opportunity for motivated individuals to conduct research in a highly-supportive environment.Projects will be advertised on the SIDB website in November for the following September entry. The successful candidates will be based within the SIDB in the College of Medicine and Veterinary Medicine (CMVM) at the University of Edinburgh. They will join a vibrant, successful, highly-collaborative community of researchers across the University of Edinburgh examining the biological mechanisms underlying autism. If you have an enquiry about the programme, please email the SIDB Administration Team at sidbadm@ed.ac.uk or visit the SIDB website.
