Our imaging systems are the Ultramicroscope Blaze and the Ultramicroscope II Ultramicroscope Blaze The UltraMicroscope Blaze (Miltenyi Biotech) is a light sheet microscope designed for high-throughput 3D imaging of large/multiple samples. The system has 5 lasers and 3 objectives (1.1X, 4X and 12X with added magnification) providing a total magnification from 0.6 - 30X and a working distance from 10 - 17mm.A standard sample chamber accommodates multiple rodent organs/organoids, while the XXL upgrade expands the capacity for human kidneys or a whole adult mouse. Microscope specifications Ultramicroscope II The Ultramicroscope II (Miltenyi Biotech) is a light-sheet microscope with a single-objective capable of 1.2x up to 12.6x magnification (Zoom body configuration) and a working distance of 6mm.The system can image samples such as a mouse or a rat brain (FOV lateral: 1.7–17.6 mm), and it is compatible with water-based and solvent-based optical clearing. Microscope specifications Axio Scan Z1 slide scanner The Zeiss Axio Scan Z1 slide scanner:Holds up to 100 normal glass slides. It can image both bright-field and up to 4-colour fluorescent samples (405, 488, 556 and 633 nm excitation).Regions of interest can be automatically detected or manually marked on multiple samples on each slide.Setup wizard can guide users through optimising image acquisition and autofocus parameters.Once setup, the system can be left for unattended automated scanning e.g. overnight. It is equipped with a state-of-the-art Hamamatsu ORCA-Flash camera and 5x, 10x and 20X objectives. WorkstationsWe have two high-spec workstations with ARIVIS 4D, QUINT and FIJI for image analysis. Please email us for details of our cost-recovery structure and quotations:cristina.martinez-gonzalez@ed.ac.ukkirsty.craigie@ed.ac.uk User manual This article was published on 2024-09-09
