Congenital aniridia is a human disease caused by mutations of the PAX6 gene. This project will investigate what goes wrong in the brain of mice in which this gene is mutated.
The work will provide important insights into the possible causes of forebrain abnormalities in patients with congenital aniridia and will guide clinical scientists searching for as yet unidentified defects in their brains. A better understanding of these defects and their causation should open new therapeutic possibilities.
