I am investigating how the hippocampus and prefrontal cortex interact when certain types of memory develop, and whether these interactions are altered in neurodevelopmental disorders. I am studying this in wild type and Fmr1KO rats - a rat model of Fragile X Syndrome, the most common form of inherited learning disability, using in vivo electrophysiological recordings in the hippocampus and prefrontal cortex, while the animals perform various behavioural tasks.
