Research

My work is primarily the creation, development, and curation of a comprehensive model of dendritic spine biochemical signalling dynamics. This takes the form of a model of a glutamatergic CA1 spine, and is based on AMPA receptor functionality.

The aim of the model is two-fold. First, it is to provide a tool for researchers to investigate interactions between complex signalling pathways, and to compare this to isolated in vitro work, as well as in vivo data. Second, to use the model to elucidate how these pathways effect AMPA receptor properties, from phosphorylation rates to ubiquitination, recycling, and synthesis.

I am also building a rule-based model of AMPA receptors at the synapse to explore conductance profiles and receptor stability in relation to plasticity-inducing events.
